Meet the Founder
Larry's career as a financial services professional began in 1982, when he arrived in Honolulu and was hired as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Pioneer Federal Savings Bank, a locally-headquartered, highly successful savings & loan association which was later merged into First Hawaiian Bank. Since his early days in Hawaii, Larry has enjoyed a rewarding commercial banking career, serving for many years as both a large bank supervisor with the Federal Reserve System, as well as a senior executive at several of our nation's largest and strongest commercial banking institutions, responsible for managing many billions of dollars of commercial loan risk.
As a way to pass along this deep financial management experience, to "give-back" to his Hawaiian community, and to help people of all ages remain healthy and live their best lives during their sunset years, Larry has established the Rabbit Advisors insurance agency, providing affordable and highest quality home healthcare services through the issuance of Long-Term Care and related Life Insurance policies by OneAmerica, Mutual of Omaha, and many other of our nation's most financially strong and reputable life insurance companies.
Larry is presently a Lecturer at the University of Hawaii at Manoa in International Economics and Finance, Corporate Finance, and Organizational Behavior.
He most recently served as Senior Vice President and Head of Credit Risk Management at Central Pacific Bank, Honolulu, and he was previously the Officer in Charge of Large Bank Supervision at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
Earlier in his career, Larry was the Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Risk Management Officer of East West Bank in Pasadena, one of the largest commercial banks based in California.
Larry served for several years as KPMG’s Director of National Credit Risk Management practice in Los Angeles, and also served as a Group Vice President in Atlanta-based SunTrust Bank’s Credit Risk Management Division.
He spent much of his career as a commercial bank supervisor with the Federal Reserve System at both the New York Reserve Bank and at the Fed's Washington, DC headquarters.
Larry holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
Chad Takanishi
Insurance Representative
Chad is a local boy who was born and raised on the east side of Oahu. He grew up playing sports and enjoying the various outdoor activities that Hawaii is known for. Chad graduated Summa Cum Laude from Kaiser High School in 2001. He then went on to attend Oregon State University and graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting & Finance and a minor in Economics.
Chad’s career as an Insurance Representative began in 2011, when he joined the team at Northwestern Mutual, one of the oldest and most successful life insurance companies in the country, as a Financial Representative. There he helped clients create secure financial futures via life insurance, disability income insurance, and long-term care insurance.
Right out of the gate, Chad earned the highly prestigious Pacesetter First 40 award, which is given to the highest producing representatives in their first year of business. He continued building his business at Northwestern until he moved to Occidental Underwriters of Hawaii, a locally owned insurance brokerage, in 2015, where he is presently located.
Outside of work, Chad can be found on the baseball fields of East Honolulu, where he has been coaching youth baseball since 2006. He also is an avid sports fan and a proud supporter of everything University of Hawaii athletics.
